There are several willows in the garden. When I first arrived here my reaction was - horrid- take them out. I learned that the reason so many of the branches have been chewed is that the possums love fresh green leaf tips. The willows are the first to shoot in the spring and so they become sacrificial plants and help to mitigate the damage for other trees in the area.
